I started traveling solo with a camera in hand at 18, photographing landscapes, friends, and strangers I encountered while spending months at a time on the road. In my twenties, that road has taken me through the Middle East, North Africa, Asia, and South America, shaping my growing interest in the relationship between land and identity, across contexts of conflict and human–nature relationships amid rapid environmental change.
From documenting the work of craftsmen in the West Bank and the barriers along the Korean DMZ to capturing daily life in the Himalayas and the Andean backcountry, my photos come from spending time in places where the environment speaks for itself. Walking around with rolls of film in my pocket reminds me to choose images that deepen my experience of the world rather than replace it. I hope the ones I share give those who see them a sense of that presence and inspire interest in the complexity and humanity found in unlikely places.
